How Does a Bed Bug Heat Treatment Work?
The only preparation required by you is to turn off your air conditioner and remove all combustibles, flammables, and any items that could be melted/damaged when heated (i.e. aerosols, candles, paintings, medications, certain types of food, vinyl blinds, etc).
Our team will prepare the room and set up our equipment. We will seal off the area to be treated and strategically place the heating ducts and fans to ensure the heat will be well-distributed. Infrared laser thermometers are used to monitor the temperatures throughout the space.
Bed Bug Extermination
Our commercial grade propane heaters fill the space to be treated with intensely hot air until all surfaces in the area are over 145°F (beds, couches, clothes, furniture, walls, etc.) and the area is held at those temperatures for 2 to 4 hours. This process reaches the temperature fast enough that a bed bug cannot survive and we hold the temperature long enough to effectively kill bed bugs in all stages of life without allowing any to escape as the room heats.
We also agitate all items (move pillows/cushions/clothes/flip mattresses) in the room every hour to eliminate the risk of cold pockets in the area where the pests could hide from the bed bug heat treatment.
Why Choose Heat Treatment?
No Harmful Chemicals
Advanced Bed Bug and Pest Services is one of very few exterminators that has the ability and equipment required to offer thermal heat remediation. We use industrial propane heaters and equipment to reach temperatures exceeding 145°F and maintain those levels for more than 2 hours.
Proven to Work in One Treatment
This is the only proven way to effectively kill 99% of all bed bugs with only one treatment. If you choose traditional pesticide, the applications require more preparation (i.e. laundering all clothes and bedding, purchasing mattress covers, pulling apart all furniture, etc.) along with numerous follow up applications before you see any results.
2 Year Warranty
We apply a residual product after the bed bug heat treatment is completed just to ensure there are no re-infestations (in the event bed bugs are brought into the area again). We back it all with our industry-leading 2 year unconditional warranty.
Common Questions About Bed Bugs
How do I know we have bed bugs?
Look for shed bed bug shells, fecal and blood stains. Bed bug bites are painless and may only take 10 minutes, while you are asleep at night. Bites might resemble those made by fleas and mosquitos. Objects close to the bed – box springs, headboard, and bed framing – are a prime locations for bed bugs. Bed bugs are not limited to bedrooms!
Where did our bed bugs come from?
Typically transported by humans and their belongings such as suitcases, bed bugs move locations easily. They can be found anywhere body heat and carbon dioxide from exhaled breath can support their biological processes. Bed bugs can survive for days, even weeks before coming back out to feed.
How do bed bugs survive?
Bed bugs are usually found in close proximately to beds because these pests need the blood of warm-blooded animals (i.e. you!) to survive. Maturing in only 35 days, bed bugs live for about 7 to 12 months. Without the help of a professional, bed bug removal can be difficult and gets much harder over time.
How do we get started on removal?
Identification is the first step. There are many bugs that look like bed bugs so an accurate identification is a critical first step to avoid costly treatment for the wrong bug. We have an extensive knowledge of bed bug infestations and will provide you with a free inspection of your property and then create an action plan to eliminate your bed bug infestation.
